Were you trying to recreate that famous Friedlander image in the last picture? I think that you did get pretty close... Did you see the "Edge of Intent" show at the MOCP? Some interesting ideas with looking at how we've shaped the land with a certain intent, and then thinking about how people have actually used it. The photographs of the crumbling sand castles are pretty rad. I also liked the Tim Long b/w images of the Chicago river. They document it's multifaceted existence in that it is used for work and leisure.
Friedlander indeed Bill. I did see the "edge of intent" show. I think I enjoyed Christina Seely's night images and Andrew Harrison's reconfigured maps the most. although, I'm always a sucker for joel sternfeld. looking forward to your reception this week!
